AssetCool Unveils Industry First SE05 Coating for Reducing Wet Audible Noise in Overhead Conductors

AssetCool a leader in the development of functional coatings for overhead conductors, announces the successful demonstration of its latest innovation, SE05. Known for its flagship products SE01 and SE02, which enhance conductor capacity through maximizing solar reflectivity and thermal emissivity, AssetCool now expands its product range with SE05, a platform designed specifically to reduce wet audible noise through superhydrophilicity.
The phenomenon of wet audible noise in overhead conductors, caused by water droplets landing on the conductor's surface, causing the familiar “hum” can have significant health and social implications for residents in the vicinity of overhead lines. This causes significant planning concerns for utilities who are typically compelled to do anything reasonable and practical to ensure the wellbeing of the local stakeholders. SE05 addresses this by creating a superhydrophilic surface that minimizes the water contact angle, thereby substantially reducing noise discharge. This novel technology was rigorously independently tested at TUV Graz, confirming its effectiveness in noise reduction compared to uncoated conductors.
